Certification, websites and interviews oh my.

I have been working as fast as I can regarding obtaining my CCNP. Working with CCNP route as of now. I think I am pretty efficient with setting up EIGRP now there is a couple of things I need to work on but those should fall into place as I do some more labs with them. My next step is to work with OSPF and Route Redistribution. I want to get some good solid foundations for OSPF so that I can be methodical in the set up and troubleshooting aspect of OSPF.

I want to make sure I am going to do well with training. I want to be better than the rest as my goal is to become a CCIE. I have a good understanding from when I took the classes back in college but that 7 years ago. I need to make sure I build up from the foundation laid by the CCNA and learn all the nuances of each routing protocol of the CCNP route exam. I think I am on track.

Other than studying. I finally got the website I was working on up and running. With the help of tech support the site was up  after a couple of days of active troubleshooting. The problem was a couple of corrupted files causing items to break or not display right. The change of the hosting plan helped me as well. All the sites I manage are running faster and better than before. I will make sure that the backups are done regularly and that this won’t happen again.

An update in my professional career, I have been aiming for a promotion within Time Warner Cable. I have applied for several positions but with no luck. But I now have an interview for an IP Engineering Position.  I had a phone interview and that went well. I get to go down to NYC on Wednesday 1/23/13 for an in person interview. I hope it goes as well as the phone interview and that I am a good candidate for the position. I believe that position will help me obtain my goal of becoming a CCIE and a valuable asset for the corporation.

Finally, I will be closing on the house that I am buying on Tuesday 1/22/13. It has been a long and arduous process, especially with all the paperwork and small processing that had to be done in order to get this far. It will be nice to have my own home. I will be able to set up my home network as well as setting up my lab correctly. In addition to doing those I will have a piece of mind since I don’t have to worry about the rules living in an apartment. Things are going well with me.
