CCNA Update
Well, I have finished reading the CCNA Study Guide 7th edition and I have scheduled the CCNA Exam. I am going to be working on some more labs to get the material embedded into my mind as I want to pass with a high score.
I have been using the Pass4Sure Practice exams and I Have been getting 80 on the exams. However, the tests are a bit different from what Cisco uses for their tests. But taking practice exams are a good way to prepare yourself to see what kind of questions are going to be on the exam.
The Cisco exam uses several kinds of questions. You have Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer Multiple Choice, Drag and Drops, Fill in the Blanks, Router Sims, Testlets, and Simlets. The Pass4Sure software does the Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer Multiple Choice, Drag and Drops, Fill in the Blanks and a basic router sim. The Testlets and the Simlets are not in the exam software as those are most likely Cisco proprietary.
You can check the Cisco Test Tutorial. This will help anyone who wants to take the CCNA or any Cisco exam get familiar with their test interface.
I have found some flaws with the Pass4Sure exams. Several of the questions I have come across was marked incorrect but I had the right answers as well as some of the answers didn’t match the exam question. The only thing I could think of is that I am using an older version of the 640-802 exam practice software and it may have some items that were not updated. Possible but I am not too sure because I bought the practice exams several years ago when I was studying for the CCNA the first time.
Another thing I am using to my advantage is doing labs. Setting up labs and configuring the equipment helps prepare for the simlets/testlets. They are good to hone your implementation and troubleshooting skills. The troubleshooting skills are essential for the CCNA and any other Cisco Exam as you will use those everyday in situations like “I can access the Accounting server” or “My email is not working” just to name a few. In addition to setting up the labs that were made by other’s, such as the labs in the study material, It is good to create a network based off a set of requirements and set that up, configure, test/troubleshoot and optimize. The reason being is because it’s a good set of skills to have when you become a network engineer and you are in charge of a network.
As you can see, I have been a busy person working on getting this certification renewed. I will be taking this exam soon and I want to succeed. I Know I will succeed. It’s just going to take some Patience and Persistence and I know I will do well. I put my best into everything I do and that is all that matters.
