RTA Update – Working full time & attending college full time
Happy New Year!
Okay, I know it has been 20 days since 2014 officially started. I have been busy. As most of you know that I have been working full-time & attending college full-time. My time has been divided amongst many facets of my life and career. With that said I finished my first session of school and passed it with an A+. It was something that I am proud of as I have been out of school for 5 years.
On January 6 I started my January Session. I am taking Laws 310 – Intro to the Legal System and Math114- College Algebra. Both subjects I haven’t taken since I was in high school and college. This session is going to take up much of my time outside of work for research, homework and class participation.
In my Law class I have to write a 7 page research paper on Hydraulic Fracturing with cover sheet, table of contents, body and bibliography. It should be interesting. I do know I will be using the skills I learned from the Microsoft office class I took last session will be utilized heavily as I will need to format and create a paper that is professional looking.
The math class I am in is focusing on Factoring, Quadratic equations and graphing. I have been doing well since the beginning of the month. I have my first quiz and exam due by the end of this week. I feel like I am doing better in this math class as opposed to classes I have taken in the past.
Outside of going back to school, I have been working hard through the New Year at work. I have updated my résumé to reflect on going back to school. I created a Vizualize.me profile as well which does need some updating. Vizualize.me is a good site to make a graphical representation of your own Resume.
I have recently applied for an internal opening within the company I work for as a Business Class Network Support Technician. From what I gather the position is all about providing support business class router support. It looks like something that I can put my skills to use with especially the networking degree I earned while as SUNY Ulster.
This year should be a better year than last year and I am expecting to get the most out of my education as well growing my professional career. I plan on working hard towards my goals move on from there.
