RTA Update June 4th
It has been just a little over a month since my last blog entry. Things have been very chaotic and busy with me and I have not had the time to make a schedule for regular blog entries. This is because I work full time and attend school for my Bachelor’s Degree in Network Engineering and Communications management. Other than that, things have been decent for the most part.
In May, I had a series of events that would make anyone go crazy. I had a dryer fail on me, water heater leaking beyond repair, New Dryer catching on fire and a refrigerator falling on me while moving it into the kitchen. In the midst of the chaos, I suffered a computer bad computer crash and series of hardware issues.
I narrowed down my computer crash down to SATA cables going bad causing corrupted data on my primary operating system drive. Luckily, I keep all my important documents separate from my operating system drive just in case of catastrophic events like the one I experienced. I have learnt, even though cables may look fine, they could go bad and cause problems with system stability and its operation.
The March class session ended and I finished with a 3.0 GPA and my Cumulative GPA is 3.75 as of June. I started my May Session and I am taking Comp-230 Introduction to scripting and Databases with labs and Engl-135 English Composition. So far, I am in the mid to high 90’s in the class grade wise. I am in the 5th week and things are going smoothly. Both classes are interesting and seems packed with a lot of useful information.
The programming class so far is easy for me. I have taken Visual Basic programming back in SUNY Ulster and the class is teaching VBScripting so the class should be easy, as I know a majority of the basics. Comp-135 is an interesting class. It is all about writing research papers focusing on argumentative writing styles and the APA formatting. I am working hard in the classes and I think I am doing well. I believe I should have my Degree within the next 18 months or so, barring any unforeseen circumstances that could delay the progress.
As far as my certification track is concerned, I haven’t had the chance to schedule the A+ exams. With the additional expenses of replacing a washer, dryer, and water heater I had to put off on the exams for now. I am currently focusing on getting my Motorcycle operational so that I can use less gas to commute to work on the fair weathered days as the bike has better gas mileage than my car.
Once I get things a bit straightened out, I should be able to schedule the exams and work further on my degree and career. However, for now I am taking things one day at a time. For now, I must bid farewell for the day and all, please enjoy your summer!
