Happy Holiday’s

It has been a long and immensely busy past couple of months. I haven’t had the time to update my blog since September. In the past 3 months, I have passed my CCNP Route exam after having to take it a second time because I missed some of the topics in the Exam blueprint as they were not covered in the CCNP Route class I took. I feel, it was a learning experience. I took the exam and learned by the failure. It may have been a costly failure of paying the price of the exam twice, but I was able to identify the deficiencies of my training.

I made it a point to schedule the exam after I failed it so that the material was still fresh in my head and I was able to study on the topics I missed. It was a good plan. It paid off as I passed the exam. Shortly after I took the exam, I started taking the CCNP Switch Class though the SCTE. The class was a great refresher from the classes I took at SUNY Ulster.

While taking the CCNP Switch class, I was taking several classes through DeVry such as Tech, Society and Culture, Enterprise network management with Lab, Advanced topics in networking, and Advanced Networking Security with lab. Those classes were very informative and I learned a great deal of information. The Tech, Society and Culture class was a capstone class in regards to how technology affects Society and culture as a whole. I worked in a team and did a class project which the team I was in did well with. The Advance network security class iI took was in regards to the CCNA Security certification which I thoroughly enjoyed.

The Network management class was filled with training in regards to Network Management systems and how to use SNMP and other tools to manage network through sensors, probes, traps and other NMS tools. I found this class informative and crucial to part of my job since I use tools like this every day. In addition to those two classes, I took Advance topics in networking. This class was a researched based class on emerging network technologies such as Cloud Based Solutions. It was informative and I useful as it helps prepare for future technologies research and product proposals.

My final class I will be taking is the Senior Project with Lab. I am looking forward to this class as I have spent the past 2 years working towards my Bachelors degree with gusto and it is time to finish up this chapter of my life and get that Degree. As far as what the class is about, I don’t know. It doesn’t start until January. From there I will be able to determine what the class is about.

In addition to finishing those classes and preparing for my final class, I have made the Deans list again. I have made it 5 times since I started in November 2013. That is a great accomplishment. My GPA is at 3.87 and once my final grades are posted from the last two classes I just finished should raise the GPA up a bit.
