RTA Update Q1 2017
The first quarter of 2017 ended 2 weeks ago and boy have I been busy. Since my last post, I have traveled to Tampa Bay Florida for work purposes. I did a whole week of boot camp style training for my new work position. Then Traveled down to Charlotte North Carolina. Meanwhile studying to take the CCNP T-Shoot test.
On April 4, 2017, I took the T-Shoot exam. I am proud to say that I have passed the exam with flying colors. The exam was what I was expecting. There was a majority of trouble tickets with 3 questions. What is technology is the root cause of the failure, what is the problem device, and what is the command/s needed to correct the issue? There were several simulations and a couple of couple of multiple choice/ multiple choice multiple answer questions.
I felt the test was easier than the route and switch combined. It was a bit more tedious but that is the nature of troubleshooting. I used up all of the time allotted to make sure I was being as thorough as possible. Needless to say, all of the hard work and studying helped me pass the exam.
Passing this exam has opened more opportunities where I work. There is a new incentive program that was introduced and passing certifications allows you to reap those benefits. Now that I have passed the certification exam, I will be working on more exams such as the CCNA SP, CCNP SP, and JNCIA-Junos, JNCIS, etc.
Where will I find the time to work on those? I guess I will be studying the same way I have been studying for my CCNP. Build a lab, practice, and read as much material as possible. With the knowledge I have with the CCNA and CCNP, I don’t think I will have any problems working with those certifications. It is just a matter of devoting the time to them in between work and personal time, which I don’t foresee a problem. It is just a matter of being motivated and doing it.
In addition to passing my certification exam which was on track of the end of the first quarter, I spent time in North Carolina looking for a place to live. As part of my employment package with my new position, I have to move to Charlotte North Carolina. This week was spent looking at houses and reviewing the surrounding areas.
In the end, I am lucky enough to be able to rent a nice 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath house that is a 15 to 25 minute drive away from my new work office. The area is nice and I am very impressed. I had a good time when I was down there looking for houses, everyone is nice, the hustle and bustle of the city is there but it’s a laid back atmosphere.
Now, at this time, I am in the process of actually moving down to Charlotte. I am packing up my house and getting things ready for the move to take place later this week. My last day in New York will be April 18, 2017. On the 19th the PODs storage unit will be picked up and sent to the secure storage location and I will be riding my motorcycle down to Charlotte while my parents are driving down with the dogs.
This is an exciting time of my life and I am going to take things with stride as that is how I roll. But for now, It is time for me to get going. This work must get done before I leave and there is so much to do in such a little amount of time.
