Happy Thanksgiving 2017
The 2017 holiday season is upon us. This year has gone fast and I can not believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving. After tomorrow there are 38 days left in this year. As I reflect about the last 12 months I am shocked about how much has changed and how much progress has been made. This year I have achieved many milestones both professionally and personally. 2017 was a year of growth all around and I am grateful for all the experiences that I have had. I look forward to all the new experiences that are lined up for me.
To recap the year thus far I started a new job in Spectrum Enterprise as a Network Engineer II for managed services in January. In February I became CCNP Route & Switch Certified. March brought a busy month for training, travelling to Florida and scouting for a house to live in Charlotte, NC. The process of the move occurred through the whole month of April where The last week I moved to Charlotte with a 700+ mile motorcycle ride
The month of May I officially started working in Charlotte, North Carolina after relocating. While getting used to the new City and State I continued grow and get better in my new position making new friends and meeting new co-workers. After an organizational change within the department, I Became a member of the Managed Services Operations Control team where I get to work on projects essential to making sure the products and services we offer are up to standard, security patches are applied, legacy equipment are upgraded etc.
In June I started working on my first project and the year started to go by faster. During the month of June in my free time, I studied for the CCNA security. In July I started working multiple projects. The month of August was busy willed with travelling to make sure I can get the rest of my belongings from New York while working on projects. September continued with more projects while October I passed my CCNA Security Certification and travelled to Florida for Fortigate training and a cybersecurity conference.
November has been the busiest month yet. I have been working on at least 3 projects at a time with an end of the year timeline. I Have been working with multiple field technicians, border partners and colleagues in order to get these projects completed. The month is almost completed and I have spent a week of working overnight/early morning maintenance windows for one project while working my normal 8 to 5 shift to accommodate the other projects.
I know I am working hard for the demands of the Job but it is a nice change of pace from what I have been subjected to in the past. I am learning new skills and services and I am challenging my self to do more and learn more. 2018 is going to be another action packed year judging how this year went. I am looking forward to it. I know I am going to pursue additional Certifications and training to make sure I keep relevant in this fast paced world of technology. But as I close out this post. I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season. May 2018 be prosperous for everyone.
