2018 Goals
The year 2017 has been a very productive year for me. I was promoted to a new position with Spectrum and I moved to North Carolina. This year I passed my CCNA Security Certification and the CCNP Route & Switch Certification. I have gained valuable work experience working in the Managed Services Team and I am growing professionally. Over the past two years I have accomplished many goals. I graduated with my Bachelors Degree and became a network engineer. While obtaining those industry standard certification. At this time I will need to adjust my career pathing goals with new short and long term goals.
For 2018 I am going to work on my CCDA Certification and the JNCIA JunOS Certification. In addition to continuous improvement, I am hoping to become a NE3 or higher. I believe those will be good goals for the Six Months to One Year goal. The two year goal is very simple, I am going to gain as much experience as possible.
My Five Year goal is still the same as I have defined back in February 2016 of continuing working as a network engineer and working towards the CCIE Certification. I believe that this may be achievable by 2021 and I will adjust these goals as needed depending on my circumstances.
I think these goals are petty good and I know setting a good Firm Commitment date is well worth it in achieving goals. That is how I was able to work towards my CCNA security within a 6-8 Month window. It also helps having a good support system pushing you to do your best. For me, my support system is my family. They have been helpful in driving me forward during my journey.
2018 is going to be another year filled with challenges and I am up for what ever the year has to offer. At the end of 2017 I am going to make sure I end the year right and start the new year with GUSTO!.
