Pi-Hole My Retrospective

Good day, This is Ron from Ron the Admin dot com. Today, I am going to be posting my retrospective about running the Raspberry Pi-Hole on my home network. I have been running this system for the past three weeks. The initial response was positive. Overall the system is blocking ads correctly for those which are on the blacklist.

For ads being served through whitelisted domains instead of using a 3rd party system like adsense or microsofts ads, it won’t work. You will need to use an ad blocking software on your browser. However, I don’t see that as an issue. I find that overall browsing is faster. I am not seeing as many native ads and it is noticeable.

I did have some issues with the software crashing as I am using a non supported set up. This is due to the fact that I am running a Virtual Machine with ubuntu running the Pi-Hole software. Once I found out what the problem was I was able to get it to run better. For more of an in depth retrospective, I have posted a video on my youtube channel.

Overall I am glad I have made this decision to deploy this software. It just works.
