TCP/IP Subnetting

As I have mentioned before I have been working with computer networks for the past 10 years or so. One of the most challenging concepts that I have encountered while I studying to get my CCNA was learning how to Subnet and how to subnet the subnets using Variable Length Subnet Masks (VLSM). I quickly found out that if you do not have a solid foundation on how to subnet and how to use VLSM’s you will have a hard time understanding and implementing other networking features. These features would include IP Access Lists, Route Maps, Policy Maps, Distribution Lists…...

CCNA Training Tips

I have been studying networking for at least 12 years. It all started out in High School when Cisco had their CCNA 640-801 exam set. I have found it fascinating and knew that I would work in a fast paced career in computer networking. While I attended college at S.U.N.Y Ulster I studied both CCNA and CCNP material.  Most of the material was interesting while other material wasn’t. I found I had problems with Subnettings and ACL’s. Those two topics are something that you need have a rock solid foundation to build other skills on. After I finished college and...

My Home Lab as of Now

Ever since I was in High School I was fascinated with computer networking. I moved on to college to persue my Associates in Applied Science concentrating in Network Administration. During my tenure at S.U.N.Y Ulster I trained in CISCO Networking, A+ Computer Repair, and basic Microsft System Administration. I found that the Hardware side of Network Administration fascinated me the most and it help persuade me to build my home lab.
