RTA Update July 2015
It has been a while since my last post. I have been working hard between work and school. Work has been busy. It is summer and there are many people who rely on their internet connections for pleasure and work. For the most part, the internet connection during the summer is used by the kids who are not in school. They are playing their video games and relying on the internet to communicate with friends. It is just a typical summer so far so I can’t complain.
As far as school is concerned, I am still passing my classes with an A average. I just finished the Managing Converged Networks and the Wireless network class. I am now taking Career Development and Designing Network class through DeVry. In addition to those classes, I am taking the CCNP route class through the SCTE. I have been working hard in obtaining my CCNP certification. The first 5 chapters were review for me. I was able to get that work done relatively quickly. The last couple of chapters are a bit harder so I am taking my time in comprehending the material.
As it stands right now, I am currently studying the BGP section of the CCNP curriculum. It has been a while since I worked on it, but it is slowing coming back to me. I figure I should be able to take the exam sometime this week for the Cisco Net-academy class. Once I complete that class I will schedule the CCNP route certification exam. I’ll schedule it on a day that I am off as and between the time I schedule and take the exam, I will use it to do labs and reinforce the material.
I have made some changes to the website. I have created a new networked site called http://portfolio.rontheadmin.com. The site is my career portfolio. It contains my Goals, mission statement, education, awards and achievements, and my resume. I have it on a separate site so that things are separated in a logical manner. I am still working out the kinks of the advertisements because this is the first time I installed the cms in a multi-site mode.
Other than that I have been busy. Work, school and volunteering. On the bright side, I should be graduating in May of 2016. That should free up some of my time so that I can start to focus more on my career. I plan on becomming an engineer within the next several years. In the mean time I will continue to network and market myself while I improve my skills and learn new technologies and trades.
At this time, I must get going. Work waits.
